Brampton's Own Shakespeare Show
Taming of the Shrew (Taming of the Dude)
July 18 to August 3, 2024
Directed by Yvonne Dhanoa
Brampton’s Own Shakespeare Show returns for its third season touring TAMING OF THE SHREW (TAMING OF THE DUDE) to three outdoor stages around Brampton this summer! Grab a chair, a blanket, pack a picnic, and pick the park nearest you to settle in and enjoy this comedic battle of the sexes.
Louie the Goat Productions and a cast of homegrown actors brings you a gender-swapping spin on William Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. In this version, Noblewoman Bethany has 2 sons, Nathaniel and Benjamin; 1 nasty and 1 sweet. The nasty Nathaniel is married off to Penelope, a clever woman who uses some questionable tactics to tame this feisty man into becoming the “perfect husband”. With lots of laughs and a tongue-in-cheek commentary on gender-norms, this is a PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN summer theatre experience for the whole family!
All performances are dog-friendly. Please respect the rules and bi-laws of the parks, and keep your furry-friend on a leash at all times.
Produced by Louie the Goat Productions*, Co-Presented by Brampton On Stage.
